Abstract

In the medical field, doctors and surgeons are encountered with different patients with different deformities in their organs. Sometimes the nature of the deformity needs to be visualised physically and a model developed to develop the treatment
procedures training and implant development. Scanning technologies turn physical objects into meticulously accurate digital models and capture complex shapes with unparalleled precision. The digital models are then converted into STL or STP files for fabrication using rapid prototyping methods. In this paper the processes of model development using reverse engineering for biomedical applications is explained.
